UBCM Day 3…today starts off with an NCLGA meeting with the Rural Caucus followed by an Electoral Area Directors Forum. This afternoon I am Chairing a session called Partnerships in Trades Training which will provide information on how partnerships can support learners to complete high school with trades, technical and academic credentials that will prepare them for jobs within industry. Should be a full day.

Great forum today ….First panel presented on Recruiting and Retaining Physicians in rural BC.  Presenters stressed that it is important for Local Government need be involved in the process of both recruiting and retaining as well as secession planning. Encouraged Local Government to write letters to the UBC dean of Medicine to express need for more rural physicians.  Second presentation on BC’s Rural Roads speaking on flow of traffic, deactivation of roads, etc.

Day 2 at the UBCM a half day workshop on Tools, Resources and Funding for Local Governments, NCLGA meeting, Electoral Area Directors Meet and Greet and lots of networking.

UBCM…Day 1…Final executive meeting with the current executive and then off to dinner with Minister Oakes and staff…we will be recognizing staff with long term service awards.
